ABOUT ME

MY EXPERIENCE

Shortly after completing my BSc in Psychology, I started my career in Mental Health working on Inpatient Wards with individuals suffering from severe and enduring problems. I observed the benefit of talking therapies and decided to continue my studies further, starting a Postgraduate Certificate in 'Low Intensity Interventions' in 2015. I worked in the NHS as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and then a Senior Practitioner for 3 years.  Alongside this post I was an Associate Lecturer at Newcastle University on the 'Low Intensity Interventions' course.

In 2018 I began my Postgraduate Diploma in 'Cognitive Behavioural Therapy' and have been working as a CBT practitioner since. I'm passionate about helping others understand and manage their wellbeing. I would describe my approach to CBT as supportive and informative. I have worked in a number of different settings including NHS IAPT, private mental health care, educational settings, Young Offenders Institutes and Hospitals. I have experience of working with both adults and children.

I currently work at Newcastle University in the Psychological Therapies Training and Research Clinic (PTTRC) delivering CBT assessments and treatment to the students at the University.

I have a particular interest in working with conditions such as:

  • Anxiety

  • Worry

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Social anxiety

  • Self esteem issues

Other conditions I am trained to work with include:

  • Phobias

  • Health anxiety

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Depression

  • Mood disorders
